My EDC Share

Recently, I noticed while browsing Taobao that many merchants have started preparing for the 618 promotion. Taking this opportunity, I also organized my everyday carry (EDC) items and would like to share them with everyone.

Item Showcase#

Storage#

  • Tomtoc Backpack: I bought this backpack on Singles' Day last year and use it as my daily commuting bag. Since I am petite, I don't need a particularly large backpack. Although the Tomtoc backpack has a compact appearance, the internal space is larger than I expected. It also has compartmentalization, which is sufficient for daily use and can easily accommodate the items shown in the picture. The only thing I'm not very satisfied with is the plastic buckle, which is not very convenient to use. However, considering the price, this drawback can be overlooked.

  • Digital Storage Bag: I bought this storage bag on Taobao, and I'm not sure about the brand. It cost less than 30 yuan. It has two layers and can hold two hard drives, converters, data cables, SD cards, and other small items. I don't think it's necessary to buy an expensive storage bag. As long as it's functional, it's good enough.

  • Wallet: I bought this wallet many years ago when I was traveling in Hong Kong. I don't know the brand either. I really like the map pattern and the texture is also good. I use it to store cash, credit cards, and ID cards.

Digital 3C#

  • MacBook Air (M1): 16GB RAM + 256GB storage. Although it has been a few years, it is still sufficient for my daily use and runs smoothly. This is probably the benefit of not listening to the nonsense of "digital babies" and choosing to spend extra money on 16GB of RAM.

  • Fujifilm X-E3 (not shown in the picture): I bought it in 2019 and it is still my main camera. It has a rangefinder design, which is simpler compared to DSLR designs. For an amateur enthusiast like me who doesn't pursue the ultimate image quality, the performance is already sufficient. However, the video recording without a stabilizer can be shaky.

  • Meike 27mm F2.8 (not shown in the picture): A compact and lightweight autofocus lens for Fujifilm. It is convenient as a daily lens. The lens performance can be referred to in this article. If I have a specific shooting need when going out, I will choose the Weizhuoshi 23mm F1.4 or the Fujifilm 35mm F2.0 depending on the situation.

  • iPhone 12 mini: I previously used the iPhone 12. Earlier this year, I exchanged it for an iPhone 15 for my wife through the official trade-in program, and I started using her iPhone 12 mini. I like the compact feel of the 12 mini, and typing with one hand is effortless. This is the "hand" phone in my mind. Since the battery life was deteriorating, I bought a battery from Taobao and replaced it myself. It should be able to last another year or two without any problems. After the iPhone 13 mini, there won't be any more minis. Unless something unexpected happens, I will continue using it until it stops receiving firmware updates.

  • Redmi K40: I bought this second-hand phone on Xianyu as a backup device. It has a 6.67-inch high refresh rate screen, which feels like a tablet compared to the iPhone 12 mini. I use Chinese apps on Android phones, such as Xiaohongshu, Bilibili, and Taobao. I only keep WeChat, Alipay, and banking apps on my iPhone. After using Chinese apps on a Chinese phone, my iPhone feels much faster.

  • AirPods Pro: Noise-canceling earphones are essential for me, but after using them for a few years, both earphones started experiencing crackling sounds, and I still don't know the reason. Considering the price and the fact that I'm not sensitive to sound quality, I continue to use them.

  • Samsung T7 SSD: It is small, lightweight, and has a good texture. Unlike mechanical hard drives that can easily get damaged from a slight impact, carrying a solid-state drive feels safer for daily use. It is mainly used in conjunction with the MacBook Air as additional storage space.

  • SanDisk Extreme PRO SD Card: 64GB, used as a backup storage card for my camera.

  • MagSafe External Battery: I bought it at a discounted price on Pinduoduo in 2022. Although the charging efficiency is low, it is indeed convenient for emergency use with the iPhone. At that time, I hadn't experienced a particularly good MagSafe external battery yet, but now there are many similar products available. If I switch to a type C iPhone in the future, it will become obsolete as well.

  • Type C to Type C Data Cable: Used to connect the hard drive to the computer.

  • Haibeisi Type C Docking Station: It has an HDMI interface, an SD interface, a TF interface, 3 USB 3.0 interfaces, and a Type C power port.

  • Lightning to SD Card Reader: A third-party card reader purchased on Taobao. Since wireless transfer of photos from the Fujifilm X-E3 is very unstable and slow, I prefer to use a card reader to quickly import photos into my iPhone for post-processing.

  • Apple Watch Series 6 (not shown in the picture): I bought it second-hand on Xianyu. Considering that a watch is prone to bumps and scratches when worn outside, I didn't mind buying a used one. Due to previous episodes of palpitations, I wanted to better understand my health status, so I bought an Apple Watch to monitor my health and remind myself to live a healthy lifestyle.

Daily Necessities#

  • AG Nasal Spray: As a sufferer of allergic rhinitis, nasal spray is my essential medication. When allergic rhinitis flares up, spraying it provides immediate relief in most cases.

  • Lipantang Lip Balm: My lips often get dry and chapped, probably due to cheilitis. Using this lip balm from time to time works well and is better than regular lip balm.

  • Tissues: Essential for rhinitis sufferers.

  • Wet Wipes: I always carry a few individually packaged wet wipes, lightweight and stress-free.

  • Stain Removal Wet Wipes: Individually packaged, useful when clothes get stained with oil, although the effect is not always great, it's better than nothing.

Conclusion#

The above items are my EDC. Although these products have been with me for a while, they still perfectly meet my daily needs. In recent years, whether it's new phones or computers, there are few products that impress me. This has led to a lack of motivation to upgrade my devices. In this era of consumer downgrading, we should focus on our true needs rather than blindly pursuing so-called "new" products. Instead of blindly following the wave of consumerism, it's better to choose "good products" that truly suit us and can be used in the long term.
